If volunteering on location isn\'t possible, you can also become a part of the Vid.bb network by reviewing new video messages and adding desriptive information. It is this information that makes the messages searchable. Join the effort now and help make a difference!

Are you interested in helping people?  Do you want to travel the world?  Do you want to meet interesting people and learn new things?  Becoming a Vid.bb relief worker will give you the opportunity to satisfy all of these wishes.  Join up with us and become one of our video hounds by going to disaster-stricken areas and recording victims who have no other way of communicating with the outside. 

Just about anyone can contribute to the Vid.bb mission by helping to keep the site up to date and accurate, making each video message fully searchable by anyone who might be searching for someone. You don't even have to register to participate... anyone can can watch the video messages and add or update the description.

There are benefits to becoming a registered Vid.bb volunteer, though. If you do that, we will keep track of your work and your reputation will improve. When you have a lower reputation (unregistered users have 0 and beginning registered volunteers have a 1) which means that anyone with a higher reputation can change your entries. Of course, if the information you enter is always accurate, then no one will ever need to change your entries. Assigning reputations is our way of ensuring that all information is as accurate as possible.

With the world's mega-corporations using the internetto simplify operations and cut costs, it seems natural for the international disaster relief community to also take advantage of the web's lower of communications barriers to improve their efficiency and effectiveness. By using the volluntary collaborative efforts of people to improve the quality of the service ofered by vid.bb aid workers will be able to truly focus on the the most pressing needs.

Vid.bb also aims to act as a public side of national and international crises, showing the human side of a disaster''s aftermath, no just telling stories but showing them as well. By showing and not just telling the stories, it is possible, even probable that vidbbs reach will extend beyond the Internet when international media pick up on a broadcast individual stories or people.

Vid.bb is a web-based message board that is meant to relieve some of the confusion that can occur in the aftermath of a catastrophic event. Such events, whether natural or caused by man, those who are affected often have neither the time, means, or resources to react to the situation into which they are thrown. Likewise, people who are concerned about people in disaster zones can feel helpless not knowing what to do or how to help.

The vid.bb foundation aims to help those affected, either directly or indirectly, by giving every means possible to make contact over the internet. Vid.bb foundation relief agents to areas affected by a communications blackout where they record victims’ messages. Relatives and friends can, in turn, vist the vidbb website and recieve the messages.

By using the internet in theis way, vidbb will also allow ordinary concerned people, who might not otherwise have the chance, to help in relief efforts. These "do-gooders" can help by reviewing new videos and adding or enhancing the searchable text layer of information to the videos database entry.
